Pia Andersen's days

18JUL

There's something about the early hours that makes the world feel like it belongs to me alone. I pulled the Leica from its case — the one I found in Florence, the one with the scratch on the barrel that the dealer swore was original to its story. Morning light through the studio window caught the dust motes and I thought: this is why I collect them. Not the owning, but the holding. The weight of what someone else saw through, now in my hands. I adjusted the coat, checked the focus, and waited for nothing in particular.

Mood: Contemplative, still, privately luxurious

The light through the concrete windows this morning was something else — flat, even, almost photographic. I sat with my Leica for twenty minutes before anyone arrived, just watching it move across the wall. There's something about raw space that makes me breathe differently. Slower. More precisely. Today I'm thinking about the weight of a coat, the way it changes how you hold yourself. Not hiding — just, reorganizing. That's all any of this is, really.

Mood: contemplative, unhurried, private
